Insulation
Improved insulation is typically #1 most recommended, cost-effective, and highest ROI energy improvement you can make for your home. This is especially the case if your home has little to no insulation already. Our use of TAP (Thermal Acoustic Pest Control) Insulation also makes your home quieter and significantly more pest resistant.
Improve Your Home’s Energy Efficience and Your Peace and Quiet
Many older California homes were constructed either without insulation at all, or with no insulation in the walls and too-little insulation in the attic. As you’d expect, this makes your home a leaky bucket when it comes to keeping you cool in the summer or warm in the winter.
If your AGILE Remodelers representative finds your home to be without sufficient insulation, he’ll typically recommend our TAP insulation, which can be blown into your exterior walls and attic to provide dramatically improved thermal performance, plus a few other “bonus benefits.”
The first bonus benefit of TAP Insulation is that your home will be quieter, as the insulation in the walls and attic will acoustically insulate your home, keeping the noise out and the peace and quiet in.
The second bonus benefit of TAP Insulation is that it repels household pests, including most insects and mice — which is great for attics.
How TAP Insulation Saves Energy
TAP Insulation is a “loose-fill” insulation that is installed by blowing the product into attics (and walls) and can even be installed on top of existing insulation.
In the summer, the sun heats up your attic space like a thermal oven. And without sufficient insulation, this heat seaps down into your home. In the winter, the warm air rises up to your ceiling, and without insulation in the attic, all that warm are leaks up into the attic and out your home. This is why adding attic insulation is such a cost effective way in improve your home’s thermal and energy efficiency.
While reducing your energy bills by keeping your home warmer in winter and cooler in summer, TAP also controls common household pests that nest in attics and walls like roaches, ants, termites, spiders and silverfish. It does this because it has been treated with Boric Acid — the same “Borax” your grandmother probably used to wash clothes with — that is environmentally and people friendly, but repels pests amazingly well.
Why TAP Insulation?
We choose TAP insulation for three reasons:
- Ease of Installation and Superior Thermal Performance. It’s easier (and threfore less expensive) to install, and it’s thermal performance exceeds that of other loose-fill or fiberglass-based insulation. In fact it’s thermal performance is 32% greater than traditional insulation.
- Environmentally Friendly Materials. Because TAP Insulation is made from recycled paper products and because the boric acid treatment is also eco-friendly, you can feel good about the end product going into the walls and attic of your home.
Added Bonuses of Sound Insulation and Pest Prevention. Why wouldn’t you want a quieter home as a bonus for insulating it? And the same goes with pest control, these are great, added benefits of using TAP that don’t come with other forms of insulation.
And, as always, AGILE Remodelers has partnered with TAP Insulation because they provide great product support and after-the-sale service. And the biggest reason we are fans of TAP Insulation is that our clients are extraordinarily happy with this product and service.
Instant Energy Savings Now, and Very Low Cost to Overall Project
When you block cold air (or hot) leaking out of your home (or heat from getting inside your home), you save a ton of energy. And if you can do this without a lot of work or money, it becomes a no-brainer. And this is exactly the proposition of adding TAP Insulation to an un-insulated or poorly insualted attic.
Normally, adding insulation to an uninsulated attic will return investment within a few years. Increasing the insulation in a poorly insulated attic might take up to 5 years. But with PACE funding, you get the ROI immediately, because the up-front costs are federally funded, and your payments are made through increased property taxes, which are 100% tax deductible.
When it comes to wall insulation, the ROI is a bit longer than attic, simply because the installation is a bit more expensive. But it’s still a great long-term investment that pays immediate dividends in increased comfort.
AGILE and TAP Insulation Make It Easy
Blowing new insulation into the attic only requires about a day. Add another day or two if you think you might need wall insulation as well.
Getting everything scheduled and the equipment and insulation ready to roll takes about a week. And during this entire process, you’ll have quick phone access to AGILE to answer any questions. We’ll do all the work for you.
